Kooky Records new releases for 2007
As we write, we anticipate a pretty busy year for Kooky just based on what has been confirmed to date.

THE DURUTTI COLUMN - SPORADIC THREE Album rel date April 2007

More unreleased mainly unheard versions and offcuts from Vini Reilly and The Durutti Column's extensive and prolific recording career. Similar to the other two, it has a comprehensive booklet with some great images following Vini's first job as a Petrol Pump Attendant (yes really) to the present day and the music is a great mix of pieces/sketches which had been left behind.

NATIONAL PARKS - (title - tbc) Four track E.P. rel date Spring/Summer 2007

Luke Farmer aka National Parks hails from Gods Own County, er, Northamptonshire. Alex and I stumbled upon Luke as he played two songs at the end of his set at The Soundhaus. We had actually crept over to watch the next band on, but simply loved National Parks.

Their music reminds us late thirties people and soon to be forties that Caberet Voltaire and the early Human League really could have been friends with Interpol, Sonic Youth and Pavement. There will be a remix of the main track 'SATURDAY' by MICRONORMOUS (aka members of Domino band PRAM). I am yet to hear it, but apparently it may have saxophone in it! We cannot wait Matt...

The other tracks are pretty well recorded and mixed we just need to get some shows together to get Luke out on the road et al.

THE DURUTTI COLUMN - (title - tbc) Album rel date Summer/Autumn

Another new Durutti Album. This one is quite mellow containing many flamenco guitar instrumental tracks a cool re-make of Never Known and some piano pieces. There is still work to be done with this and more details will follow once it becomes available.

THE RETRO SPANKEES - tbc

The wonderful kids of merriment (if you have not seen them live you really do not know what you are missing) are busy writing some great new songs, busy playing in all kinds of places... well sort of anywhere where they can - they love the whole live thing...

So... we need to sit down and talk and look at doing something with them soon.
